Question 1:

I am an old Macao resident of Chinese nationality. I had been issued a Macao identification document in 1970s, but I did not renew my Macao identity card on time since I grew old. In this case, can I apply for the Macao SAR Permanent Resident Identity Card (BIR) directly with the former Macao identification document?

C. Persons born outside Macao who have Chinese nationality or have not yet chosen their nationality and whose parent, at the time of their birth, was a Macao permanent resident:

Scope:

In accordance with the stipulations of Clause 1(3) and 1(6) of Article 1 of Law No.8/1999,

Children given birth outside Macao (except Mainland China) who have Chinese nationality or have not yet chosen their nationality by persons mentioned in the above two categories who have already become a Macao permanent resident at the time of their children’s birth are entitled to the status of Macao permanent resident. They can confirm their right of abode in Macao by applying for the Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode in the Macao SAR.
