Introduction of Online Resident Identity Card Authenticity Verification Service

2014-02-10

The Identification Services Bureau (hereinafter called DSI) launched the first Online Electronic ID Card Verification and Personal Data Retrieval Service in 2004.  Organizations are not required to provide photocopies of identity card and authorization letters to DSI and verification can be made immediately.

Currently, DSI is introducing a new Online Resident Identity Card Authenticity Verification Service to the public.  Organizations do not need to provide photocopies of identity card and authorization letters to DSI nor input any password whenever they use this service.  Instant verification can be done in a designated website of DSI.  In order to ensure that the cardholder agrees to use this service, organizations must obtain the permission from the cardholder and ask the cardholder to insert his/her resident identity card into the card reader on his/her own; organizations cannot insert the identity card on behalf of the cardholder.  If necessary, organizations may print out the verification result for archival purpose.  DSI will process the verification record confidentially including the date and time of verification and the username.

If the cardholder does not agree to use this service or the organization cannot verify the resident identity card of the cardholder, the organization can suggest the cardholder to verify the identity card by other means, for example using the Electronic Identity Card Authenticity Verification Kiosk (please refer to the website of DSI (www.dsi.gov.mo) for the kiosk location).

Furthermore, DSI will publish a list of registered organizations on its website (URL: www.dsi.gov.mo).
